Direct R/W operation has failed

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have a problem restoring a Windows 2003 Server backup onto the same machine. I get the following error...

Code: 5,832,705 (0x590001)
Module: 89
Owner: root

Direct R/W operation has failed.
Additional info:
--------------------
Error code: 1
Module: 89
LineInfo: bd28fdbd64edb900
Fields: code: 1,$module : dsk_supp_glx_pic_37608
Message: Operation not permitted
---------------------

The system is Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition in a RAID configuration. The error appears immediately after starting a restore.

Appreciate help moving this one.

Best Regards,
Rob.

I've done some further testing...

I tried to use disk management but it did not work. I thought I would try to remove all the existing partitions on the drives and try again. I got may error messages.

I then changed my system from RAID to Non-RAID (IDE). This time disk manager worked and I removed the partitions. Restoring to a single drive as non-raid is now working.

I therefore have an issue with the RAID controller or something.

Rob.

Hello Robert Finnigan,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

If your RAID is not recognized correctly, you need to use a Windows based media, like WinPE. See Trial Version Limitations of Acronis Products for more information.

If you need additional assistance, navigate to our Acronis Support website and click at Step 1 on Technical issues/Question -> on the next drop down, choose I am using trial version. Then log into your account. At the bottom of this page you then have an active Live Chat. To start the Live Chat, click on Chat Now.

If there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.

Thank you Peter for your reply. I will look into WinPE.

It is very frustrating as Acronis True Image Home 2009 works perfectly with my RAID configuration!

Best Regards,
Rob.
