Does ABR 11.5 SBS edition support Windows Server 2008 Foundation edition?
Hello,
Just wondering if ABR 11.5 SBS edition will support Windows Server 2008 Foundation edition (or earlier versions) for the server OS? The web site documents only indicate support for 2012 Foundation...but I need to confirm for a customer running 2008 Foundation edition.
If ABR 11.5 SBS does not support, is there another ABR version that would?
Thanks
Derrick

Hello Derrick,
in addition to the aforesaid I'd like to provide you with useful links to our Knowledge Base:
11250: Acronis Backup & Recovery: Windows Server 2008 Foundation Support
35338: Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5: Supported Operating Systems
Fedor, thank you very much for helping!
Best regards.

Thank you for your responses. So in a nutshell the ABR 11.5 SBS edition will not support Windows 2008 R2 Foundation version so our customer would need to use ABR 11.5 for Windows Server instead then have to purchase any additional license for SQL, etc. correct? But if the customer is using 2012 Foundation version on their server they WOULD be able to use the ABR 11.5 SBS edition?
Just trying to make sure we get customer into the correct supported ABR version.

ABR 11.5 SBS edition differs from ABR11.5 Advanced only by license key, (and from Standalone edition - by packaging).
So if some OS is supported by some edition of ABR11.5 then it is supported in SBS edition too as long as it installs on it.
In recent builds of ABR11.5 Foundation Edition of Windows 2008 and later are recognized with ABR SBS license. It was specifically tested only on
2012 Foundation and 2012 R2 Essentials, but should work on all OSes where GetProductInfo windows function works ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms724358(v=vs.8… )
So, as 2008 R2 Foundation and 2012 Foundation are supported according to http://kb.acronis.com/content/35338 , ABR11.5 SBS should work there.

I also have a customer running Foundation 2008R2 and I want to use Acronis 11.5 Essentials / SBS edition.
I performed the check and this is the result;
wmic OS get OperatingSystemSKU
Results in;
OperatingSystemSKU
33
When I look this up I get;
PRODUCT_SERVER_FOR_SB_SOLUTIONS
0x00000033
Will this productversion be able to run Acronis Backup Essentials?
Thanks in advance!

Fedor pointed out that the number returned by wmic is decimal so in fact translates to 21 hexadecimal, being Foundation Edition.
My question has been answered, thanks!
