Inconsistent backup and unable to backup Windows partition

Thread needs solution

Dear All,

Thank you for looking at my post. I like to engage the community for help as I have been with Acronis support since 18th Sept and there's no solution. It starts to get frustrating because every time a new engineer comes in to help. They give me the same steps over and over again. First they ask for all the logs and FTP into the server, modify some registry settings, configure the VSS provider, and update Acronis.

The situation worsen when they requested to upgrade to the latest build. I used to be able to backup other partitions. Now the backup process get stuck at 9% with zero files backup.

Hello Joke Jong,

Welcome in our Forum. I am happy to assist you.

I found your open case, where you are reporting, that your backup plan still hangs at 20%.

I suggest following to solve your issue:

  • First, you have to stop the backup operation on the machine, where the Acronis Agent runs.
  • To do this, go to Start -> Run -> cmd -> rightclick and start the command line box as administrator.
  • In command line box, please enter -> taskkill /f /im mms.exe. These commands you have to repeat until you get the message that this process does not run.
  • Now restart the Acronis Managed Machine Service.
  • Please follow this article from our knowledge base, special the part of updating SharePoint databases. You should run this update; even you did not start or use MS SharePoint.

This is the part I am refering to:

  1. Open an Administrative command prompt.
  2. Change directory to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN
  3. Run the following command:

PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures

For more information see this Microsoft Technet article.

I will update your case with the provided information from this thread. Additional I have forwarded your comment to our Management Team to address your concerns about service quality.

If there is anything else, we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
