no Raid Array detected with HP Smart Array P840

Thread needs solution

Booting a HP ML350 Server (Gen 9) with Acronis bootable media I noticed that no Raid Array is detected with HP Smart Array P840. Wwith that raid controller no disks/volumes/partitions are shown.

Is there any hint when the P840 raid controller will be supported by Acronis?

Is there a workaround available?

Hi ARestorer,

Acronis Bootable Media does not support HP Smart Array SATA RAID. The reason is that this is not an open-source driver.

Companies are legally prohibited to include proprietar drivers into their products, thus we cannot add the drivers into Acronis bootable media.

There are several workarounds for the issue allowing Acronis products work with HP Smart Array RAID controllers.

  1. Please contact Acronis Customer Central and request a custom bootable media.
  2. Build your own custom bootable media as described in How to Update Acronis Bootable Media with Closed-Source Kernel Modules.
  3. Use WinPE or BartPE media with the Acronis plug-in, and inject the drivers for the array to the media: see Using Acronis Media Builder to Build WinPE with Acronis Plug-In.
