Recovery task stuck needing interation

Thread needs solution

Hi

I created a virtual machine with a fresh install of Windows and the Acronis Agent deployed to it.  A restore was ran, using a disk archive and directed at this machine.  Upon completion the virtual machine rebooted.  The restore was of a machine that was already on the network.  Due to this I quickly updated the network adapter in VMWare Workstation to host only as I feared it would affect the operation of the physical machine on the network.

The restore was successful, however, on the management server I now have a recovery task that states it needs interaction.  When you open the task to see what is required, it appers it is trying to connect to fresh vm before the restore was conducted.

How would I stop this task?

I have tried stopping and starting all Acronis related services and rebooted the server.  Neither of which have worked and the task still remains.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Anthony,

The restoration is -- like a backup -- always done by an Acrois Agent component.

For example, if you run a restoration using our bootable media, the same Agent component is actually doing the work inside our Acronis Linux environment.

In your case, it seems that the interaction request is stuck on whatever agent was doing the restoration and this interaction request is being transfered to the Management Server. Since the Management Server is not doing any of the actual work -- just displaying their status -- rebooting the server wouldn't affect the restoration task.

Your post is a bit unclear on which Agent was doing the restoration, but I would suggest connecting directly to this Agent from the console and seeing if the interaction request can be canceled from there.

Thank you.

Hi,

The restoration task was conducted on a server going by one name.  The machine that was actually restored to it, went by another.  The Management Server therefore attempts to connect to a server that no longer resides on the network.  It is therefore not possible for me to connect to the agent it refers to.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Anthony,

If this server is no longer available or relevant, you can simply remove the agent from your Management Server, which should remove all the running tasks etc. associated with it.
