[SOLVED] Imposible to create VM from .vmx or .tib created by Acronis 11.7

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have tried to recover one server from the .tib backups made by Acronis 11.7 but its imposible. I have tried with the .vmx and the vmware converter standalone cause the .tib report and error with the source file; also connect the vmdk directly to the VM in the esxi; also different vm versions 7, 8 and 10... If there is any problem with the acronis image .tib or something why creates it a vmdk and different versions of .tib?

I need some support to do somwthing with this images.

Thank you in advance.

Hello Emilio,

Thank you for your posting!

Could you please take a look at the following article. it contains detailed information on how to troubleshoot the issue.

Thank you,

Hello again!

The solution i've found is to recover the .tib backup with an iso image of acronis true image 2016 or similar, then create a vmdk for the vm in vmware and restore the whole disc. After that maybe you will need to change some parameters of bus disc in properties of vm and you will have the full backup of the server.

Note: When creating a vm in that way i realized that you cant clon the vm to another host.... it fails when create snapshot and then your vm fails and cant start... solution for this to create a new vm and add the vmdk after rename to the original name.
