Strange behavior with Acronis Recovery 11.5

Thread needs solution

It's my understanding that the TIB file needs the XML to be able to restore.

With that said, we copied a TIB to a USB key that our head office sent to us, but without the XML. Acronis Recovery sees the folder and says it's a valid backup. However, the exact same file copied to an external hard drive does not show up as a folder with a valid backup (without the XML file).

I checked to make sure there are no hidden files. There are no files in the Catalog folder in either locations. I've created the same directory structure (in case). I even copied the file from the USB key to the external hard drive. I've even changed the drive letters (note that the USB key and the external HDD were plugged in at the same time).

Now, I know that I can simply hit refresh to have the XML file recreated. I'm just trying to find why it would work for the USB key without the XML, and not the external HDD. Seems abnormal that it would work on the USB key, but I'm no expert. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hello Eric,

Thank you for your posting! Could you please attach screenshots showing the directories with the backup in question (from USB and HDD). Are you browsing the backups under Acronis Bootable Media or from the desktop Acronis Management Console?

Thank you,
