Take image level backup from other hosts. How to do this.

Thread needs solution

Host 1 - Having a critical Server with a Hyper-V VM running on it. Adding to it, it's not in domain.

Host 2 - (a) having a file server on a Hyper-V VM,  is also connected to the domain and has two Hyper-V VMs running on it.(b) Here we have installed ABR Universal License.

Now, my question is can we install Agent core, Agent for windows and Agent for Hyper-V on "HOST 1", and then take Image level backup of "HOST 1", and start taking image level backup of "HOST 1", having ABR installed on "HOST 2".

With regards to "HOST 2", where ABR is installed, I would like to take File Level Backup.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL THIS BACKUPS ARE STORED ON A "NAS".

(i) How should I go with this.

(ii) How should I make "HOST 2" communicate with "HOST 1", like any procedures and steps to follow(as its on one VLAN), any firewall configuration on both and opening of port numbers.

I haven’t received any email from Vivek till date from my last conversation with him.

Please note that this is a critical environment for me and this has to be expediated at the earliest as I am already running out of backups.

You need to install Agent core and Agent for Windows  on machines where you need perform image or file backups, so in your case - both Host1 and Host2. You need to install Agent for Hyper-V on Host1 only if you need to make agentless backups of Hyper-v VMs.

Then you need to install Management Server and Management Console on some machine, not necessary Host1 or Host2, add agents on Host1 and Host2 to the Management server and configure backup plans. Or install only Management Console and manage these agents directly.

You write that you installed ABR on Host2. It's a bit confusing because Acronis Backup (ABR) product consists of several components, like Agent Core, .etc. Which components did you install there?
