TapeLocation very large (500GB)

What kind of data do you backup?

Usual size of cached data for disk archive is about 5-10% of backed up data.
Anyway please ask our support (even better maintenance team) they will help you cleanup caches.

1) Are you sure that File Recovery was not enabled earlier? The default value of this option was changed to "disabled" in build 37975 (October 2013).
2) Another reason may be backing up Exchange data by using Acronis Backup Advanced for Exchange, with the "Metadata collection" option set to the highest level ("Include e-mails", see http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_11.5/i…)
3) Finally, the said files may be normal archive metadata. Its size is 5-10% of the backed up data size. If you back up more than 5 terabytes, the product needs a lot of space to remember the data location on tapes.

If none of the above are true, you can submit a support request to investigate the case in depth.

We backup many different server. Virtual machines, Exchange Server, File Server, Terminal Server, Web Server ... We store the data on 2 different tape drives and 2 connected iscsi drives.

The recovery of E-mails is turned on in the backup.
File Recovery has always been turned off.
