Win PE or Linux Based Recovery Disk for Marvell Hard Disk Controllers ?
Which recovery disk setup works best with Marvell hard disk controllers,
the Win PE based version or the Linux (Native) based version ???
I have a motherboard with the Marvell 88SE9172 SATA 6Gbps controller on it.
When I use the Linux based (Native) recovery disk I notice that after doing a backup,
if I then try to do a restore without re-booting, the hard disks do not show up at all.
After re-boot everything appears normal.
So I was wondering if maybe I should try creating a Win PE based recovery disk.
But it seems like a lot of effort.
So I wanted to ask other users and Acronis Staff forum members if the Win PE based recovery disc
handles Marvell controllers better than the Linux recovery disc?
Just to be clear, I have added the Windows based Marvell driver to my Linux recovery disc, but I do not know of any, nor have I added any, Linux driver specific for the Marvell controller to the Linux based recovery disc, because I think there is already one intrinsic in the Kernal. I know very little about Linux and I do not even know which distribution of Linux is used by the Linux recovery disc.
Thanks for any insight you can offer.

Thanks for the reply.
I built the WinPE version from Win 7 and ran comparisons of it versus the Linux based one.
What I noticed is that the Win PE version gives warnings and sometimes errors.
The Linux version runs with neither warnings nor errors.
I think I will stick with the Linux based one except when I run into a specific problem that requires the more specific drivers of the Win PE version.
