Improve Speed of Recovery for Indivual Email Items in Exchange 2013
First, I want to state that I really appreciate the added support for granular recovery in Exchange 2013. It provided substantial improvement and shows the dedication to improve the product and keep it current.
TOPIC: I would like the restore of individual items to "speed up".
NOTE: I have selected the finest level of backup (include emails) and the backup time is acceptable. I placed the necessary Exchange library files in the appropriate folder on the storage node. I can restore individual items now.
HOWEVER, when I choose to restore at the mailbox level, as soon as I clicked a mailbox, I get a warning that "preparing the contents may take sometime.".
I two suggestions and/or comments:
1) Why is it not possible to pre-index the mailboxes at the email level? I thought that is exactly what was happening when I chose to "include emails" during the backup. Every time I look at an Exchange archive, it has to re-index.
2) I also noticed that when I click on an individual mailbox, it doesn't just index that individual's mailbox, it indexes ALL mailboxes in that database. If the above point one is not practical, then perhaps it would be possible to only index the specific mailbox when clicked, so that performance upon restore is enhanced?
Thanks
