It required licensing to recover a machine on ESX?

Thread needs solution

We have Acronis 11.7 installed and we perform backups of physical and virtual machines.

We want to perform restorations in other vmware ESX that is not licensing with Acronis.

Is it necessary to have the ESX licensed where i want to recover?

Regards!!

Hi Miguel,

With Acronis Backup version 11.7 it is indeed required to have a license for target ESXi host if you perform recovery to it in agent-less mode, e.g. by using Agent for ESXi. This limitation was removed in the current 12.5 version where both "convert to VM" and "recover to VM" features don't require target ESXi host to be licensed.

The workaround in your case, if you don't want to assign a license to target ESXi host, would be to perform recovery via bootable media: prepare VM manually from vSphere client, boot it from Acronis Backup bootable media (.iso), and run Recovery wizard.

Thank you.
