Possible to do incremental Backups on Hypver-V machines?

Thread needs solution

I have a Windows 2008 R2 Server with Acronis and about 12 Hyper-V machines installed.
Right now the backup-job takes the images of the machines and copies them to a backup-server.
But, as data is growing, the backup-job takes too long now.

The idea is to do a complete backup, as it works now, on the weekend and then do incremental backups during the week.

Is it possible to do incremental backups on a hypver-v machine from outside?
Or do i have to do a single full-backup from inside every machine, in order to be able to do incremental backups during the week?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Juergen,

Yes, it is possible to perform incremental backups of Hyper-V VMs using Acronis Agent for Hyper-V, i.e. via an agent installed on Hyper-V host rather than inside the VM. If you're experiencing performance issues with this approach, please contact our support team with the description of the environment (where the backup is saved to, what's the size of the backed up VMs, etc.) and system report collected from Acronis product GUI (Help->Collect System Report).

P.S. Note that it is not possible to append incremental "external" backup of a VM (made by Hyper-V agent) to a backup created by an agent installed inside the VM.

Thank you.

I can not do a system report. I clicked on "Collect System Report". A progress window pops up. I let it ran over night, but without any change. Still only a popup-window with a progress indicator. I tried to start it again this morning with the same result.
Is there any other way to collect the system-report?

Hi Juergen,

In this case it makes sense to capture the logs from Management Console connected to Acronis Management Server-> go to Logs->click "Save All To File" button. In addition capture Windows System Information outputs (Win+R->msinfo32->File->Save as .nfo) and Windows Event Logs (Win+R->eventvwr.msc->Windows Logs->capture System and Application logs. This should be enough for opening the support ticket and basing on these details we should be able to drive you further.

Thank you.
