Problem when backing up hyper-v 2012 virtual machines with exchange DAG in place

A strange problem occurs. I have 2 hyper-v hosts in a cluster and 2 virtual machines that hosts exchange mailboxes in a DAG. When i try to backup the virtual machine that has mounted the mailbox database i.e the primary dag node everything hangs. Exchange mailboxes becomes corrupted. I have tried both system vss and acronis vss. Any ideas ?
