I'm going to restore a Windows 7 x64 system particion on my laptop and when I started the task, I got this error ( I manually added translated version to english from my spanish version:

As far as I understand, there's a problem opening the compressed file because of the ID...

Any help will be very appreciated, thanks!

Hi,

According to the log you've started validation of the backup archive which fails due to detected corruption in "Win 7 M7510 DOS3.TIB" file. If you're trying to restore from 3rd or later recovery point, then it won't be possible since archive is corrupted and cannot be used. One thing you can try here is to move "Win 7 M7510 DOS.TIB" + "Win 7 M7510 DOS2.TIB" files to a different folder and browse it while configuring recovery - you should see 2 recovery points (1 for each moved file) which may be valid for recovery.

Also try to disable archive "validation before recovery" option in the recovery task settings - in some cases recovery may still work even though archive validation detects corruption.

If nothing from the above helps, please contact our support team for assistance. The problem could also be related to specifics of backup storage used - it needs to be investigated further.

Thank you.

Hi Vasily,

Thaks for replying and for the info.

In this case there's no "Win 7 M7510 DOS" and "Win 7 M7510 DOS2" files, so I guess something is wrong. I don't remember clearly because I did this image one year ago, but it may be that the first two files were very small (a few MB) and I deleted them after creating a new complete image, which is "Win 7 M7510 DOS3" that is about 26GB.

I'm not sure but it also could be that I renamed this one to delete the "3" in the end.

Maybe the problem is that one. Do you think that is fixable?

Best regards,

Hugo

Hi Hugo,

>> it may be that the first two files were very small (a few MB) and I deleted them after creating a new complete image, which is "Win 7 M7510 DOS3" that is about 26GB.

Manual deletion of files was likely to cause the problem. The manipulations with archive files should be done very carefully, since not always a full backup would be included into a single file - it could be split in parts, and removing or renaming either of these parts would make archive invalid.

I'm quite not sure at this point whether there are chances to restore from this specific archive, but still at least partial recovery should be possible with our support team involved and the broken archive sent to us. This process would likely take some time, as it would also involve our development resources to dig through the archive files and analyze what can be done with it.

Thank you.

Thanks for your offer Vasily. However, I guess it is not worth your kind effort because I have another backup made a few hours before. These two are from the SO being installed with all my software, so I can go back the earlier one and just install the remaining software in a few hours.

I prefer not to bother you for this, but I really appreciatte the help.

Thanks!

PS: I've learned the lesson ;-)
