Recovery of a *.tib-File to a virtual machine - Windows not bootable

Thread needs solution

Hi guys,

i have a Problem in recovering a *.tib-File to a virtual machine. When I try to start the machine in VMWarePlayer after creating it with Acronis Backup, Windows XP is not able to boot because of missing *.dll-Files(screenshot in file-attachments)

Do I need to take a look at my preferences of create a Machine-Backup?
I used the Backup-Files for recovery in case of a destroyed HDD and it had always worked.

Thank you in advantage for your help,

with best regards,

Benjamin

Hello Benjamin,

Thank you for your posting! Could you please first of all validate the backup used for recovery. If validation reveals some issues with the archive, more likely it cannot be restored. Make sure you've selected all volumes on the disk where the operating system resides.

Are you restoring the image to the manually created virtual machine or converting the .tib-file into VMware Workstation format? Could please test both ways:

Please also check the following article, which contains detailed information and step-by-step instructions on how to troubleshoot such issues: https://kb.acronis.com/content/45856

Thank you,

Hello Ekaterina,

thank you for your reply!

1.) I always validate my backups after creating,
2.) I tested both methods: (recovery to a new virtual machine and recovery to a existing virtual machine), with no success.

Thank you in advantage for your help,

with best regards,

Benjamin
