Suggestions on how to make a monthly backup, without messing up my current backup schedule.

Thread needs solution

I have a backup that runs on the weekend. It backs up ~1.5TB of data.
Then it runs differentials each day, until the next weekend.

I need to make a monthly or yearly backup, and this needs to go to a different device, an attached USB drive, which is setup as unmangaged archive.

1) How do I make it run this backup on the first Friday of the month... without having to log on and click "run backup".
2) How do I make this backup supersede the backup that would normally run at that time?
3) Alternately, can I make my backup ONLY write to a second location for that once a month, monthly backup? I can't seem to see that as an option. It seems I can write to a 2nd location every time, or not at all.

Or, are there any other suggestions for doing this?

Thanks,

Hi William,

1) If you just need a copy of the backup generated by existing backup plan (which produces full backups on weekends) then the most straightforward way would be to simply copy the generated .tib file over to a USB drive, since you don't to need to run _another_ backup of the same machine and you just need to re-use the backup which was already created by existing backup plan. A simple powershell script which copies only recently modified/created files would do the job (example).

2) and 3) scenarios will be solved natively in Acronis Backup 12 Advanced which we're soon launching under Beta program, where we're adding so-called mini-plans, e.g. there will be a possibility to create a separate backup _replication_ plan, which will run on it's own independent (from original backup job) schedule and will be able to copy only the most recent backups to desired destination.

Thank you.
