Two different errors trying to add to the AMS
This is a new topic, same problem:
(see update at the end, one works now, but still need help please)
I have three machines, Win 7 pro is the server, Win 7 home the other two machines.
I've now completely uninstalled Acronis 11.7 50088 advanced for PC (all 3 machines)
- Using install program, selected uninstall and clicked box at bottom to remove even the logs.. Rebooted (all 3 machines)
- Using Acronis cleanup_tool.exe from elevated cmd prompt, no options, then rebooted. (all 3 machines)
- Using Ccleaner, scanned for junk and lose registry keys.. Rebooted (all 3 machines)
- On the server only, Checked the UAC setting again.. And to be sure sure sure.. I ran these instructions on an elevated cmd prompt:
%windir%\System32\cmd.exe /k
%windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
Then re-installed on all three machines.. Checked for agents or backup settings and they where all gone completely.. Except for the management machine had a new install of the agent for itself..
Tried to add the other two machines and got two different error messages..
192.168.1.115 I got:

Before pointing at the antivirus.. AVG was completely removed before re-installing acronis.. and is still off for hopes of making this work...
Help please!!!

Hi Barry,
From what I can see the 192.168.1.115 machine adding failure was caused by enabled UAC and disabling it allowed the registration to complete successfully. The 192.168.1.241 machine cannot be added since account used for authentication on it fails ("Authentication has failed."). I can suggest 2 alternative options:
1) Run Acronis Backup 11.7 installer (full .exe package) directly on 192.168.1.241 machine and instruct it to register on the management server in one of the steps of the setup wizard (so it will be registration not from AMS, but from the agent side, so there will be no need to authenticate on the agent)
2) An alternative way would be to localize the issue by first creating a new Windows user with administrator privileges on 192.168.1.241 (UAC should be disabled on it) and use it for registration.
If nothing of the above helps then the proper way would be to contact our support team for further assistance with the issue.
Thank you.

In reply to Hi Barry,… by truwrikodrorow…

This solution worked for me.. But you left out important steps that I had to, by trial and error, figure out...
1) You said full package.. What you mean is, uninstall and re-install the software and during installation is the option to add to a management server..
2) If you install a management server on the agent machine, it will NOT allow you to direct to your management server. Your choices will be forced to the management server you just installed (thinking you only installed the software, guess what, if you installed it it's running). And two the option to add later is not what you're trying to do in this step...
I appreciate your help.. But I must say, after 2 years of trying to get this running, I can relate it to making an old station wagon run, it is not the intuitive state of the art software I had convinced my client TG that it was. There should be an easy to use wizard, that tests the water and finds what items are in the way, giving report to each task it performs.. and rather than an error code, give simple answers to what is found.. Having to "go around" the normal way of adding to the AMS server to add to the ams server is clunky and unprofessional.. Vasily, not you sir, the software. You! I appreciate!

Thank you for the feedback - it's much appreciated as always. There definitely could be some more elegant ways to solve the original problem, but without having access to the actual environment (which would let me get more troubleshooting details) I decided to suggest the most straight-forward way which would work with highest chances.
To add a few cents: the agents registration and deployment process has been improved since v11.7. In Acronis Backup 12.5 there are additional tools added which help if something goes wrong during registration - all without requirement to uninstall-re-install. There is special register_agent.exe utility described in https://kb.acronis.com/content/59828 which serves for these purposes. In addition to that there are other improvements to agents deployment/registration process, including automatic .mst transform packages generation for automated unattended installation (see link).
Keeping that in mind I'd really recommended you to at least evaluate the new Acronis Backup 12.5 version and see how it works for you (may be not in this environment, but in some differen ones). Version 11.7 is currently in maintenance support mode, which means that while we continue to release patches/bugfixes and some new features, still most of the new functionality will see the light only on 12.5 platform which we actively work on.
Thank you.
