What exactly does my licence give me?

Thread needs solution

Every now and then I reach for Acronis, usually in desperation. And it has not once ever worked for anything. I have 11.7 Advanced Update 1 something or other (the name changed so many times over the years I cannot keep track).

So this time I am trying to retore a backup to an ESXi host. I get this error:

So the thousands of dollars I paid do not allow even this basic restore?

Hi,

According to the error messasge there is no license assigned to the target ESXi host - there is Virtual Host license required to perform agent-less operations with the ESXi directly. You should assign the license to the target host as described in http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_11.7/index.html#7112.html . If the license is assigned to the host already, then you should contact our support team for assistance. An alternative method to perform recovery into VM is via bootable media, e.g. prepare an empty VM -> boot it from Acronis Backup bootable media -> Run recovery from there.
