Backup 12 - Backup ordering won't work

Thread needs solution

Hello,

My setup:

- My workstation wakes up at 06.00, initiated from the Bios

- I have 3 Backup-Plans:

  Plan 1. Partition1 should start at 06.02

Plan 2. Partition 2 should start at 06.05

Plan 3. Dedicated plan to shutdown the PC should start at 06.11

What happens:

Plan 1 will be started and completed. Perfect. Usually it takes about 10minutes.

I would expect that Plan 2 will start after Plan 1, it should be waiting since 06.05.

The problem is that Plan 3 will be executed and the Workstation will be shutdown.

When I come to work and switch on the PC, Plan 2 will be executed.

This is definetely a problem ( I would call it a bug ). Former versions of Acronis followed the defined starttime order.

Maybe it has something to do that the apeareance of the plans it like this ( and I can't change it )

- Plan 2 - start at 06.05

- Plan 1 - start at 06.02

- Plan 3 - start at 06.11

Any ideas how to force AC to follow the defined order?

Regards

Alex

Hi Alex,

Can you please clarify how your plans are set up, especially the plan #3, e.g. how is "shutdown" action performed? From what I've checked in my environment if one plan starts for example at 2:02am and still runs when 2nd plan kicks in at 2:04am, the 2nd plan waits for completion of the 1st one (hangs on 0%) and continues only then, so the tasks chaining works as it should. Some screen shots illustrating your setup should help to get better understanding of what goes wrong.

Thank you.

Hello,

thank you for you fast reply:

After re-checking the backup options I have discovered that I had enabled this setting in plan 2:

( ) Alle Backups genau nach Planung starten
(x) Backup-Startzeiten in einem Zeitfenster verteilen

So it was setup to start the task not exactly at the specifed time. I assume that was the cause of the problem ?!?

Alex

I'll post a note tomorow if it's working.

BTW: Can I change the display order of the plans?

Hi Alex,

The options you mention indeed may affect the result - the 2nd one is applicable when the plan is applied to multiple machines, but still switching it to 1st option ("Alle Backups genau nach Planung starten") may help even if plan is applied to single machine. In my case it was set to default, e.g. 1st option was selected.

P.S. The display order of the plans cannot be changed I'm afraid - it's always showing the last applied plan on the top.

Thank you.

Setting it to 'Alle Backups genau nach Planung starten' did the trick

A bit off-topic, but I had a hard time to find out why the PC with Windows 10 won't wake up from S5 using the BIOS timer anymore.

Check out the attached image or go to:

 - Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings

Disable the 'Turn on fast startup (recommened)' option !!

Have fun,

Alex
