Disappointed by update 3.

Thread needs solution

1) There is a bug during update process that makes you lose license from all workastation, I had to remove the licenses and assign them again.
2) The update process it's very bad:

  1. Before start the update you should check if there are backups in execution and alert the user before starting the update.
  2. You should  automatically stop the Acronis process and services in execution, actually the user need to kill manually via task manager.
  3. I do not understand why the update is in conflict with Skype.exe and Opera.exe, but whatever it does not matter, there are most important issue.
  4. Why don't you integrate/automate the upgrate process into product, you can at least send a notification to the user to alert when a  new update is available.
It's a loss of time, check everytime if a new update is available, log into the account and download the new setup...
By now, most of modern software have integrated an automated ugrade process.

3) When do you plan to release a major update?, or should I wait the release of Acronis Backup 13?

  1. Do you plan to add again the feature the import/export the backup plan settings https://kb.acronis.com/content/21445 ?
  2. Probably the UI should be reconsidered from scratch, but for now can you at least make the tiny right sidebar resizable?
  3. Dou you plan to add automaic login for administrators? some months ago you have proposed to add Active Directory Authentication, are you working on it?

Sorry if I bother you, but Acronis Backup 11 was a great product and makes me worry that you are ruining the product, in August expires my subscription, and sincerely I have no intention to renew it.

Hi Stefano, thank you for the feedback.

1) We will double check it.

2.1) I will add your feature request to the backlog, thanks.

2.2) Actually it does - the product stops its services during update.

2.3) This is the known bug that is addressed and fixed in the upcoming release.

2.4) It is addressed to the next version of Acronis Backup 12 - we will notify about avaialbe update and allow to run update right from the console without manual installer downloadings etc.

3) Currently we're working on Acronis Backup 12 Advanced (Beta is planned to March-April, 2017). Along with it, will be released a new major version of Acronis Backup 12 with a lot of new features and improvements.

3.1) Yes, in the upcoming version it will be available

3.2) I will redirect your proposal to our designers

3.3) Actually we already support autentication with Active Directory accounts. Or probably you mean - SSO autentication? SSO is also in our backlog, I cannot confirm right now when it will be avialable.

We just started using Acronis 12, we can second that the UI is terrible.  When modifying the backups, it's the web UI box on the right-hand side making it hard to navigate.  It gets confusing too  The only plus is the small footprint of the installation.  11.7 was great, but the footprint was too big, SQL db installation etc.

Thank you very much for feedback.

About:

2.2) Actually it does - the product stops its services during update.

Not all or there is a bug, Acronis shows me a popup to restart the current running services, then shows me another popup with other services that is unable to stop and I need to kill them manually via task manager.

My only issue is to do login everytime when I am already logged as administrator,  I hope that SSTO will solve the problem.

It's strange, anyway, thank you, I will redirect it to our QA.

Hi Malimar, thank you for the specifics, very valuable. Will address it to designers.
