NOOB - Point Backups to Tape

Thread needs solution

I've googled and youtubed as much as I could with no luck. I've just installed backup 12 (Trial) on our 2008R2 server. We previously used Backup Exec. I am having a hard time finding a function to point our backups to our tape drive storage. Does anyone have a useful link with step by step procedure?

Hi,

Acronis Backup 12 currently doesn't support backup to tapes. This functionality is available in Acronis Backup 11.7 Advanced edition (see link to documentation + link to product page). The Advanced version of v12 will come later and it will also include tapes support.

Thank you.

I could also not find any list of supported hardware.

Would be great to get a simple list which software release and build is supporting which king of hardware.

Hi,

Acronis Backup 12 can be installed on any hardware as long as it runs supported OS/environment. Also it can back up to any device as long as this device supports required protocols (CIFS/SMB/NFS or local storage see link). The only aspects where hardware really matters are bootable media environment and tapes. For tapes we have a testing tool which allows one to check whether particular tape device is supproted or not - see https://kb.acronis.com/content/57237 with the description. For bootable media we constantly update the Linux kernel in it with more and more drivers as soon as they become available for new hardware models, and if anything still doesn't work there is always a WinPE-based media available where user can insert specific drivers.

Thank you.

Thanks for the info! I'll install 11.7 advanced.
