install (or re-install) issue

Thread needs solution

HISTORY:

- Acronis 12 stopped backing up (without email notification or error)
- When selecting 'recovery' option in Acronis, Acronis reported agent not working

1st thing it tried was a 'repair' install.  This install appeared to proceed as normal and without error but didn't fix the above problem.

Then i removed/full uninstall Acronis 12, rebooted.  Now it won't re-install I get error 0xd281f8

The box is a Win 2008r2 server with Hyper-V role.  No other services or apps are running.

Hi Ben,

The problem occurs when adjusting privileges for the service user (Acronis Agent User) created during the installation. It is listed in registry but not present in the system. Please remove the following key from Windows registry and then re-try the installation:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\Installer\CreatedServiceUser\

It should succeed after that. If the problem still persists then try specifying some existing administrator account to be used as service user - when configuring Acronis Backup 12 installer setup and choosing the service users.

removing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\Installer\CreatedServiceUser\ allowed the installer to finish
