About recovery and disk sector

Thread needs solution

Hi, I have a theoretical question: if I create an image of my active partition C, and then I recover the image alone changement in C, does the image overwrites exactly the original sectors, one by one ?

More generally: I find a malware in C - I delete it - then I recover a clean image; the recovering overwrites the sectors in the identical position that C had ? If yes, the overwriting is like a wiping if the malware left some track in my system.

Hi alberto97
to overwrite exactly the original sectors, you need to do the backup in the sector-by-sector mode (http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11/index.html#13949.html). Otherwise, only the file system and MBR are backed up and recovered (http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11/index.html#11853.html). In most cases, this is enough to remove traces of malware.
