ABR 11 duplicating backup issue

Thread needs solution

We use Acronis Backup & Restore 11 for our SBS 2011.
The management console is run on a simple Windows 7 Computer which I'll just call "Backup-PC".
The Backup-PC has got an internal HDD and furthermore we've got a NAS and two external HDDs.

So here is what I wanted to do:

1. The backup should be saved on the internal HDD of the Backup-PC
2. the backup should be duplicated to the NAS
3. the backup should be duplicated to either one of the external HDDs

Always one external HDD is held as an offline-backup that can not be affected by any viruses, etc.,
just for the worst case scenario. The other one is plugged in and they're changed weekly.

The Problem is, that in the backup-plan I can only decide to duplicate a backup to a third place if
it has been successfully duplicated to the second one, meaning that if I chose the ExtHDD#1 as the
second place, it won't copy anything to the third place (ExtHDD#2) if ExtHDD#1 is not plugged in.

Has anyone a solution for this?

Thanks in advance and best wishes,

C. Rinn

Hello Harald Rinn,

Thank you for posting this issue in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

The first two steps are manageable. But the external USB drive will not work as expected. In Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 you only can work with simplified naming convention. See this article from previous version in our knowledge base.

Please be informed, that in Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 the handling of changeable drives has been improved. See this article with new features and enhancements. I additionally want to inform you, that you can perform a free upgrade to the latest version of Acronis Backup & Recovery (11.5). See this article in our knowledge base for instructions. As a benefit, with the new version, you get a free backup option for the MS Exchange databases.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.
