ABR10 has troubles handling USB thumb drives

Thread needs solution

Hello.

I use Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 build 11639 on Windows 7 64 bits.

Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 seems to have issues handling accurately USB thumbs drives.

First point: I was able to backup up bootable USB thumb drives, but ABR10 failed in restoring the devices most of the time. The restoration ended up with "device is not ready".

Second point: in some cases, and particularly with a Kanguru thumb drive, when plugged, the system was unable to mount the device, or the device was mounted after an unusual amount of time. When I wanted to unmount the device, in some case the sytem had trouble release it. I notice that after having stopped the Acronis Managed Machine Service, the mount / unmount problem disappeared.

I think this 2 problems are related.

Hello Dantony,

Thank you very much for your post. I would like to welcome you to our forum and I will definitely help you with this issue.

From the description of the problem it looks like it could relate to a known issue in our software with 4 KB Cluster size devices. We have resolved this in the latest build of our software, which is 11639, that is why I would like to suggest the following strategy:

1. I will send you a download link via a private message with the latest SnapApi drivers. Let me know if this fixes the issue.

2. If not, please collect this report and contact our Support team mentioning what we have done in step 1, I am confident that our Support team will resolve this.

If you need additional help or have any other questions, please let me know.

Thank you.
