With ABR11 server for Windows, Moving harddrive to a new machine...

I can just prepare the SATA hard drive by applying Universal Restore using bootable media, then move the it to the new machine and boot up? Windows (2008 R2 Server x64) will see the new motherboard, find the new hardware, load the drivers, and boot up?
That means no backup and restore is needed?
(Windows will ask for activation again since it sees a major hardware change, right?)

I think it won't work. Bootable media will detect hardware on the current machine and will try to find appropriate drivers. You need to perform it on the new machine.

You are saying I should move the hard drive to the new machine first and boot the bootable media CD in the new machine to apply the universal restore?
Can Acronis tech support please confirm this? I don't want to end up with a hard drive that I can't boot up in the old and new machine. Maybe I should clone it first.

Yes.

If it's just a single SATA drive (not a RAID-n of SAS) I'd do all operations on a cloned or backed up - recovered drive. Something may go wrong with you scheme too.
