Acronis 10 Backup & Recovery Bootable CD and HP DL380 G8: backup fails?

Thread needs solution

For making system images, we're using Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 on a bootable CD-ROM. On older generation HP DL380 systems, this works perfectly, but for unknown reason, it fails to do so on HP DL380 G8 hardware. The operating system is Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.8 (Tikanga).

What happens is that after booting the server with the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 CD, we can set up the backup schedule identical to how we do it on the older hardware and after pressing the "OK" button to start the actual backup, we get the pop up window with the running task monitor as we're used to. However, nothing is shown in this pop up window in the form of progress (no timer, no progress bar, etc ...) and after what appears to be a seemingly random time period, the server automatically reboots.

Inspection of the backup harddisk shows that a backup archive has been created with a size of exactly 0 bytes.

The bootable CD does make a correct backup of other servers on older HP DL380 hardware (G6, G7) but with the same Red Hat operating system as the G8 hardware.

Any help or insight in this issue is greatly appreciated. Is the Acronis v10 software unable to handle the G8 hardware properly?
