Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 incapable of remembering credentials
Why is the new release of Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 incapable of remembering credentials?
It won't remember the password for logging on to the Management Console despite having ticked the save password box.
Then when you access the centralised vault for the first time it again demands a user name and password!
This was all sorted eventually in Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 and now we have gone backwards - again!!

Thanks for the reply.
Having now turned on the Credentials cache it will still not save the password when logging on to the Management Console despite having ticked the save password box.
The good news is though it will then let me look at the centralised vault without asking for the same credentials again.
Version 10 was like this, being incapable of remembering the password until it was eventually fixed in one of the three trillion releases but version 11 seems to have lost the nack once more!

I had the same issue initially.
In my case, the AMS service was running under a local computer account. Once I changed it to run under a domain service account, it remembers, and is able to save/cache credentials.

Hello to all,
I am evaluating Acronis Backup and Recovery 11. There is only one thing stopping me purchasing it. That being no matter what I do it does not remember my credentials to log into the network share on my readyNAS Pro. If I type it manually everything works fine. If I shut the program down and log back in it has forgotten. This is an absolute pain.
I have checked the Credentials cache tick box but still have not had any luck. Can anyone suggest a way to resolve this issue as it is wasting a lot of time which would be better spent evaluating other software if what I am trying to do is not possible.
Thanks,
Mick

Does it remember credentials for it within one console session before closing the program? What is OS on the machine the console is installed on?
If you create another user on this machine and run console under it ( check the 'Credentials cache' for it too as it's set on per-user basis) will it work or not?

Same problem here...
It only works with Managed Vaults... Unmanaged, forget it...

Daniel,
Just saw your post.
I did actually manage to get my credentials stored. It's been working fine for me for a while now. (Just wanted to be fair to the product, and not just gripe on here). So, it can definitely be done. Acronis B&R does have some "quirks", but one learns to live with it.
If you want someone to help you promptly, call support. If you have time, you can post here, and maybe we can help you.

Hi Sky, thanks for you offer to help!!!!!
Have you managed to get it working with Unmanaged vaults in NAS devices?

Daniel,
I'll give it a try.
I don't have a NAS that I am using as a NAS (long story, I do have something, but I am using it as an iSCSI drive).
What I can do is try to create an unmanaged vault on my backup machine's file system. I'll also see if I can create a file share on another computer and use that as an unmanaged vault. (If all that works, then maybe the problem is with the implementation of SMB/CIFS on the NAS)
Stay tuned. Unfortunately, I've had to deal with other people's emergency needs today. I'll get to it soon.

Daniel,
Here's the story so far.
I created a folder on my backup computer's filesystem to be used by the unmanaged vault.
Then, I created an unmanaged vault.
It seems the unmanaged vault cannot be pointed to anything other than the C or D drive for storage (at least, in my case, and I haven't investigated this behavior further). So, I made a network share out of the new folder, and pointed the unmanaged vault to use that network share for storage. So, at least in my simple example, I have created an unmanaged vault, that uses a network share for storage. I was able to log on and off, and access the unmanaged vault without any credential issues. I actually sent a manual backup job of one of my VMs there - completed successfully.
So, at least in the case of a Centralized Unmanaged Vault, credentials can be remembered.
My environment: authentication is based on Windows Active Directory accounts. The share is visible only to my AD user account, and the Acronis service account (a service account I created specifically to be used by Acronis).

Thanks Sky,
It's not working for me... I'm about to give up this product... I see it's potential but it simply does work as it should NOW...
Problems to create a WinPE CD
Constant failures in the synch between agents and AMS
Problems with credentials not being hold
Corrupted backup plans that needs to be re-created from zero depending on what you change
The list is long...
We're checking the ARCServer plugin to do this...
This is not a happy end... :-(
But thanks a million for all your efforts to help. Appreciated! :-)
