Acronis v11 - locking up server when trying to lock disk, but only on certain days

Thread needs solution

We have an Acronis 11 installation that's been in service for over a year without any problems but it has suddenly started locking up the server.

It runs the same job every day but on a Wednesday the server has started locking up, there is nothing in the windows event log and the last entry in the Acronis log is:

Locking partition C:

With so little to go on can anyone shed any light on what we should be looking at?

If we untick Wednesday night out of the Mon - Fri schedule then the problem goes away.

Nothing runs on a Wednesday night that is any different to the other days in the week, windows update is disabled, and there is nothing running in the windows task scheduler.

Hello Andrew Worthington,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

One possible reason for this issue can be a Windows update. Did you ensure, that you are using the latest build of the product?

Another reason is a corrupted backup script. If all other backups run, you should delete the corrupted backup job and re-create it.

It is possible to identify the script at the Acronis Scheduler service and delete it. You will find the related information in this article from our knowledge base.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
