Archive protection is not available

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I am trying to set up encrypted archive. I am backing up files to personal vault set up on folder.

When I open 'backup options' I expect to see the node in the tree saying 'archive protection', which according to documentation should be available. It is not there. I can't find it anywhere else either. So I can't figure how to encrypt my archive.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit. Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Workstation build 11133.

Any idea?

Thanks
Alex

Hello Alex,

Thank you for taking time to contact us.

Most probably, you are trying to edit an existing backup plan or to create a new backup plan selecting an existing archive as the destination for the backup operation. In this case this option is not available because the you are unable to add this option on fly, the information about option has been added to the internal program database, you are unable to change it.

Please create a new backup plan from the scratch, the Archive protection option should appear in the backup options. Please note that you can also get the access to the Archive protection feature in the Default backup options (Options -> Default backup and recovery options -> Default backup options).

If the option is still unavailable, could you please attach a screen shot of the appropriate program window to your next post?

If you are not familiar with making screen shots, please read the below step-by-step instructions.

- Get to the window which you want to make a screen shot of;
- Hit the (Alt+)PrintScreen button on your keyboard;
- Run Paint usually available in Start\Programs\Accessories or another graphics application;
- Choose Paste command in Edit menu;
- Save the result picture in JPEG format being preferable.

Thank you.

I have the same problem ABR10 11345

I set up password via default options

I then create new backup plan and there is no password set after the job is created

I am backing up to a USB drive

 Hello,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.
Could you please clarify your words? How have you identified that there is no password set? Have you tried to get the access to the archive from within Recovery data window? Or have you tried to edit the task?
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.
Thank you.

password was set up via using default settings

If I look at infomation to look at the settigns for the backup you can not see that its password protected
if you edit the job you can not see its password protected

Only the e-mail that is sent after the backup completes do you see its password protected
of course try to open the backup and sure enough its asking for password

But if you do not use deafult settings and set up password then you see via infomation that its password protected

This makes it difficult writing up the doc / You say its password protected but only can prove it via screen shot of default settings and or the e-mail
notifaction once backup is complete

if the backup is password protected then it should show via infomation

 Hello,

Thank you for the clarification.

Actually, the program was designed in this way. When you change settings in the default backup and restore options, the program identifies them as the default values. If you edit the created task, the program shows the values that differ from the default ones, and the password protection shouldn't be seen.

I will create a request to the appropriate department, maybe, this behavior will be changed for the future releases.

Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.
