B & R for Windows Servers backup plan hangs at 0%

Thread needs solution

B & R installed on Windows 2004 x64 with 12gb ram and MS SQL server 2005. Backing up to a shared RDX drive attached to another server. The backup plan is a scheduled full backup. The plan will run successfully for 0 to 10 daily backups. When the backup hangs, it is goes from idle to running and display 0% progress indefinitely. I need to kill the mms.exe process to stop it. Deleting the plan and recreating it usually fixes the problem temporarily. I have another server with the same OS, ram and backup plan (scheduled to run at a different time) but no SQL. This server also backs up to the same shared RDX drive an another server. This backup runs fine.

Hello Steven,

Thank you for posting. I will do my best to help you with this.

It is possible there is some sort of malfunction with VSS. Could you try some steps that will help us localize the problem?

Check the screenshot attached to my post please, edit the backup plan and disable the option called - Create snapshots without using VSS. If the backups run well this will indicate a problem with VSS then. To workaround the VSS problem you can try using Microsoft VSS. Please check this article for details.

If the issue is not caused by VSS it could be caused by the Acronis Scheduler service. Please check this article for the solution. Should none of these suggestions help, please collect the following report and contact our Support team directly so that we can help you with solving this problem.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
