Backup Plan failed / Acronis cannot open the target storage location
Hello,
I currently try to run a manual backup, my first one after a fresh installation of Acronis Backup & Recovery including Universal Restore on a Windows XP SP 2 machine.
Depot was created on another local drive d:/ . However, when I start a simple backup task without any further settings than the destination, I got the error "Cannot open the storage location".
Here is what I got from Acronis:

LineInfo: 600f7166ce397c66
Felder: $module : C:\Programme\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\DiskBundle.dll
Message: Failed to start demon process.

Same errors when I try to backup to local folders or to my private vault.
I open the Manangement Console and set Acronis Agent User and __acro_subst_user__ as a member of the Administrator group, nothing happens. I got the same issuses...

Hello Marco,
Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]
There are two possible causes:
- Wrong credentials were used to execute the task. If the machine is in domain, then domain credentials should be used.
- During installation of Acronis Agent the Acronis user service was not added to the Replace a process level token user rights assignment policy.
The fix depends upon the status of the computer in the network:
- If the machine with the Acronis Agent is not a part of the domain;
- If the machine is a part of a domain and it is a usual domain member machine (not a domain controller);
- If the machine is a part of a domain and it is a domain controller.
You can learn more on how to do it here.
Thank you.

Hello Oleg,
I'm sorry for my late reply. After trying out your suggestions according the how-to, I got the same error.
__acro_subst_user__ account got security rights for replacing process level token, can start tasks and is administrator... and all three services are restarted. I deleted all logs and try a manual and simple backup task of my system drive c:/ on another drive d:/.
My system is a dynamic drive and a fresh OS-installtion without any meaningful programs. I will update to SP3, however, I don't think this will solve my problems. Hopefully, you can help me. It's disappointed.

Hello Marco,
How is your PC connected to the network? Is it a simple domain member, domain controller or non domain PC?
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.

Hello Alexander,
the PC is a stand-alone one and not member of a domain. It is connected to the network/internet via switch and then router.

Hello swee ching wong,
Welcome to our forum and thank you for your post. I will definitely resolve this issue for you.
The article that Oleg provided is no longer valid, because most likely the issue is out of date. It occurred with one of the first builds of the software.
As for the issue itself, if you are experiencing the same problem posted in this thread, they were all resolved by the latest build of our software which is 11639 at the moment. Please use this article for instructions for downloading the latest build.
If you are still experiencing any issues, please collect an AcronisInfo report, you can send it to me via a private message. Just in case, you can also contact support directly in case you need immediate assistance.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.

Hello swee ching wong,
Thank you for the update.
From the description of the issue it is possible that there may be an issue with permissions and privileges. Please check page 6 of the installation guide to make sure your user has the necessary privileges to run the Acronis Managed Machine service.
You may need to re-install the software in order to specify the Acronis service for your domain user, because if you simply change the user in the services menu, our software will still fail to work.
If there is anything else I can do, please let me know.
Thank you.

Hello Greg,
Thank you for posting and welcome to our forum community. I will certainly help you.
I apologize for the confusion related to the unavailability of the KB article. The reason it was removed is because it is out of date and the solutions suggested there related to one of the first builds of our software which are no longer applicable to the latest build which is 11639.
Please check the following solution and if you are still have any problems, please collect the necessary diagnostic information so that we may resolve this issue.
If you need additional help or have any other questions, please let me know.
Thank you.
