Backup Recommendation Solution

Thread needs solution

I'm using B&R 10 with Windows and have a Disk 1 and Disk 2 partition. However, when I create my backup policy it only list Disk 1 as an option. How can I configure my backup policy to recovery 100% in case of a server failure? Solutions and Recommendations?

Hmm, I was going to say "Is disk 2 a dynamic disk" but B&R 10 handles dynamic disks I think.

Cheers, Rob.

Hello all,

Thank you for posts. I will definitely help you with this.

Rob Nicholson, thank you for your contribution.

Steffon Black,

When creating a backup policy, there are a few ways you can select your 2 hard drives to make sure both of them are backed up. In the backup policy creation window, in the volume selection rules, you can for example type C:\ and D:\ or select All Volumes, to backup both of your disks. I would also recommend checking our user guide on page 363 for more details.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.

Hello Anton,

We have a sql 2005 cluster and would like to know the best practice to backup with Acronis. The cluster has mutliple disks and is there a special product that will need to be install for SQL imaging?

Dear Steffon!

Thank you for finding time to leave a comment here and for your question.

I regret to inform you that Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server is not a cluster-aware product. In this case you can backup the database only with the entire system, freezing its services.

You can do it by enabling VSS in the backup options - it will automatically stop the services for the moment of creation of snapshot (2-3 seconds) and automatically start them as soon as the snapshot is taken.

You can find more information in the chapter 3.3.1.4 in the User's Guide.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
