I installed the AcronisAgent manually and it now works...

I also purchased this product and I've encountered the same issues posted here and elsewhere. Unfortunately I didn't have access to this forum before purchasing the product so I wasn't aware that this issue has been so prevalent and that Acronis apparently doesn't know how to get this fixed or doesn't care. For $1,200 I expected a product that would work. I've followed the solutions that have been suggested by Acronis since purchasing the software and it STILL doesn't work.
Acronis: What's the next step???

I am having the same problem with the "Cannot connect to 'localhost' error. The details are:
Details
Code: 5,242,881(0x500001)
Module: C:\Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\mms.exe
Message: Failed to retrieve parameter 'Windows name'.
Code: 1,311,724(0x1403EC)
Message: WMI 'ConnectServer' failed.
Code: 65,520(0xFFF0)
Message:
I restarted the services mentioned above with the exception of Acronis Storage Node service which does not appear on my Services (local) list.
I am using a Samsung HD502HI USB Device for backup
I have also looked at the "9505: Fail to retrieve parameter 'Windows Name'" forum, followed the instructions on the Scheduler with no positive results
What else can I do?

Hello Ben Worth,
Thank you very much for your post.
I will be happy to assist you.
We have a similar issue mentioned in this article, it has to do with our software getting information about your network card.
If you can please try launching Windows System Information file and try to see if the network adapters part is blank or not. You can check the article that I mentioned first for instructions. That article also suggests ways to resolve the issue.
Please let me know about what you find and I will continue assisting you.
Thank you.

I had this exact same error with B&R 10 Workstation in Win 7 x64. I uninstalled and installed the latest build. I tried to do a backup and it hung at the scheduler. It froze windows and I did a hard reboot. Trying to run the program again gives the error below. Restarting results in a balloon stating that the managed machine service failed to start. Trying to run acronis again gives the same error message below. There is no knowledge base article for this error. I need a real, permanent solution for this problem, not "Stopping and starting acronis services" (windows complains that ti is unable to stop acronis managed machine service, which it said was not running, so it shouldn't appear as running in services in the first place), "network card info missing (it isn't), reinstall (tried that), use the cleanup utility (did that).

Hello Tim,
Thank you for your message. I will definitely help you with resolving this issue.
This error message can be caused by one of these reasons:
- Acronis Agent is not installed on the machine;
- Acronis Agent is installed, but Acronis Managed Machine Service is not started;
- Acronis Managed Machine Service is started but it is not completely initialized yet.
I would really appreciate if you could take a look at this solution and if you are still having difficulties, please collect this report and contact our Support team directly. I am confident that we will be able to fix this.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.

The backup console (?) now opens with no error messages. I tried to start a new backup and this is what happened. I clicked backup plans and tasks, new, backup, files and chose the destination drive and selected type incremental and files, and selected the files to backup. Every time it had to load the local folders it displayed "Loading..." and took at least 5 minutes to load them. It hadn't done this before (the last time I tried it and it worked, before I installed the new build). I selected the destination and type (incremental). Eventually I was able to start the backup, but it displays simple "backup and :running 0%" and never starts a backup. The details window task pane displays Running, backup (file), the plan, origin=local, schedule manual, last result = -, last finish time=never, schedule=manual, owner=administrator@my machine name. After about 15 minutes it appears to start the backup.
Do you know why these long delays are happening? This did not occur before, it was always almost instantaneous. Also, can I change the schedule for this plan to run an incremental backup every day at a set time? Also restoring takes a long time to load the directory, backup file, and contents. Basically anything that requires the program to read from a hard drive is now excruciatingly slow.
HELLOOO??? is there anybody out there?

Wow, I guess technical support only answers questions that they have a canned answer for. Typical.
