Backup strategy

Thread needs solution

Dear All,

We have 2 servers, 1 server is SAN storage around 10TB, and 1 server is PDC server around 1 TB.
And also we have the tape backup connected to SAN storage from HP vendor.
We use the latest ABR to backup the data.

but, How to centralized the backup for that 2 servers data into tape backup that connected to SAN storage server ?

Because, when we connect to management servers, we can't see the tape.

FYI:
SAN Storage Server: Windows Storage Server 2008 x64 Standard Edition
PDC Server: Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Enterprise Edition

Thank you
Rachman

First - is the tape an autoloader or a single-tape drive? ( ABR on 2008 R2 doesn't work with autoloaders , and centralized tape vault can be organized only on autoloaders - see userguide - 2.11.1 Tape compatibility table ) - but as I understood your tape is on 2008, not 2008 R2.
Then, tape are not directly on management servers. There is a component named "storage node" , install in on the machine with tape, add it to management server on "storage nodes" page in navigation tree, then create a managed centralized vault specifying location on tape. Then you can use this centralized vault on machines with agents added to Management Server.

oops. http://kb.acronis.com/content/11382 (ABR11 no longer depends on Microsoft RSM, so you can check it out after June 21)

@dev-anon:

Yes, it is ... tape are attached into Storage Server is 2008, not R2.

Storage node already installed on Storage Server ( this server is a Management Server ) and this server (Storage Server) and PDC already connected both.

But when we create the centralized vault and looking a tape : the list of tape drives is empty.

Should we install the RSM feature at this server ?

Thanks
