Backup&Restore 10 for Linux

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have just installed with success the Acronis Backup and Restore 10 for Linux on my virtual Red Hat Linux server 5.3 (x86_64) with kernel 2.6.18-128.7.1.el5xen on a Xen server 5.5. The installation worked fine. But I run /usr/sbin/acronis_console, I get the message:

No XRender extension found. Work in emulation mode.

I have searched for an XRender extension on rpmseek/sourceforge ... but could not find the right package. Which extension do i need ? I have seen a lot of packages on rpmseek but which one do i need ?

Can anyone help me ?

Johan

Hello Johan,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

The root of the issue is that our FOX libraries depend on XRender libraries in Linux. Xrender cannot be activated in some cases (the issue is under investigation at the moment) and Acronis Backup & Recovery crashes. Our developers added some code to avoid the crash, but the performance will be very slow.

Please note, that the issue happens also when you connect to a Linux machine through VNC, which is used by Xen hypervisor. Basically, almost all customers trying to launch the console in a Linux guest installed on top of Xen will be affected.

We may be able to include some changes in the Fox library. The fix may be available for the future updates or for the next version of the program.

If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.

Hello Johan Segers,

I would like to add to Oleg's post, that we have release a Knowledge Base article regarding this. You can find it here.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.
