I was able to install the agent.
What I did differently was the default Create a New Account rather then use an exisiting network account.
This was on a Win2k SP4 box

Hello Peter,
Thank you for your message. I will do my best to assist you.
I am very confident this is a one time issue and it is not specifically related to your user account. Most likely it had to do with our SnapApi drivers not updating properly. They are responsible for hard drive operations.
I understand that this is a major inconvenience for you, but without any logs it will be difficult for us to determine the cause of this problem. We currently do not have any known issues such as this. Just in case, if you have a full memory dump generated during the BSOD, you can send it to me and we will be able to resolve this problem.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.
