BOOT DISK FAILURE - HELP NEEDED!!!

Thread needs solution

I use Acronis True Image 11 on VISTA 32 Home Premium.  I have had a scheduled back up plan of my primary hard drive every night, until it crashed on me a couple of days back.  OEM diagnostic tools suggested I needed a new drive, which I got yesterday.   This morning I successfully restored my data on to the new drive but can't get to start VISTA from the hard drive.  I get the boot disk failure message and need to use the Acronis disk as the startup disk and load VISTA.  I have ensured that the boot priority in the BIOS is the hard disk and not the CD ROM, but have not been successful as yet.  Can anybody help please.  Thank you in advance.

Recovery CD is a bootable CD and this should be able to restore your system from the backups.  It looks like the backups itself are from the faulty HD in which case you are likely to have problems.  I always create copies of my DATA separate from full backups just in case the full backups is dodgy.

Hello Amit,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]

Please repair Vista Boot Configuration Data and see if the issue remains. You can repair Vista Boot Configuration Data in the following way:

1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the CD\DVD disc drive, and then (re)start the computer;
2. Press a key when you are prompted;
3. Select language, time, currency, keyboard or input method, and then click Next;
4. Click Repair your computer;
5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next;
6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box click Command Prompt;
7. Type the following:
Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
Bootrec.exe /FixBoot

If you want to completely rebuild Boot Configuration Data, then you should issue the following command:
Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd

This command scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista. Additionally, this option lets you select the installations that you want to add to the Boot Configuration Data store.

Thank you.
