Bootable Media Toshiba Satellite Pro C650-18U Network Drivers

Thread needs solution

Looks like Toshiba have done it again, the latest laptops we've received from Toshiba, Satellite Pro C650-18U, when using the Bootable Media generated from Acronis Backup and Recovery 10, doesn't detect any NICS.

From the Windows XP/7 OS the NICS are Atheros, is there support for this network card in the downloadable Bootable media?

Hello Albert,

Thank you for your message and welcome to the forum. I will definitely help you with this.

We are aware of the issue with Atheros network cards and I can provide you with an updated bootable CD that has this issue resolved.

We are very close to releasing this update for our products and as always, we will post about the update in the forums.

Please give me a few moments to follow-up with a private message.

In case you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

I have the same issue. Any outlook on resolution?

If not, can you also provide me with a one off update (bootable CD) to work around the issue.

I've tried many bootable media versions, the latest recognised the inboard nice but it did not restore images correctly, still diagnosing this issue, because of urgent need we switched to WinPe 2.0 Vista disk, which works but is very slow to boot.

but works as a workaround as a short term isolation, although I would prefer linux bootable media which is quicker to load.

I have the same issue Atheros AR8152 PCI-E NIS 6.2. Acronis Boot does not recognize the NIC. Please send a build that will boot correctly.

Hello Mike, Albert and Jay!

Thank you for your comments! I understand your concern, and will be glad to help you.

Dear Mike and Jay, thank you for reporting about the issue. According to your account information, you have the latest version of Acronis True Image Home 2011. The issue with Atheros NIC was never reproduced on this version, so the the updated media from your account may solve the problem. Please burn it onto the CD, and check whether the issue remains.

In case it's still present, please gather Acronis Linux Report and contact support directly with the information attached. Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.

Dear Albert, as far as I'm concerned you have the case opened with support. This problem is very important for us, and I would appreciate if you could kindly specify me the case number, so that I could be sure it's handled in a proper way.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

We have the same issue with Toshiba C650 laptops - boot disc cannot detect network.

I've just purchased the TI Home 2011 upgrade and downloaded & burnt the V5519 iso image to test.
Tried booting a C650 and it still doesn't detect the network although the Netgear switch now thinks it has got a 10mbps device connected.
The FTP options detects the connected master PC but we don't use FTP software - I would prefer to use the the 'computers near me' option.

Any progress on fixing this?

I downloaded the November 25, 2010 Build # 6574 and was able to create bootable media that recognized the Atheros NIC on my Toshiba Satellite C655. Previous build did not recognize the NIC.

Thanks for the update from Acronis.

I have this problem with my Atheros NIC also. I'm posting this in June 2011, 6 months after the previous posts and this thing STILL isn't working.

I'm using the latest build...6857.

Judging by the comments from Anton above that Acronis are "very close" to providing a fix for this I'm not sure why it is that 6 months later the problem still exists. And to make matter even worse I have just finished talking to a member of their tech support who hasn't even heard of the problem at all !!!!!!

Frankly I smell something here....

Hello Neal,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting. I will definitely help you with this issue.

It is possible this is a different Atheros NIC for which we do not have drivers yet in our bootable media.

I would really appreciate if you could get back to me with these two reports so that I can understand why this NIC is not detected:

1. Windows System Information file from your PC.

2. Acronis System report using ATIH2011 bootable media.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
