bug in newest build - no job creation possible with nas

Thread needs solution

i have just installed newest build
i can successfull make a personal depot on my nas with UNC path and login
but as soon as i want to use this depot within a new backup task, i cant save the backup job
all i get is the following error.
i have tried everything. changed service users, start/stop services, changed folder on nas, changed user, changed windows user - everything but i cant make a fucking scheduled job!

I have the same problem with Backup & Recovery 10 for Windows Server Built 11345_s_de
on a NAS.
If i try to create a job which save the file to a local directory, everything works fine.

I am familiar with the issue you are experiencing and will do everything possible from my side to provide you with the complete resolution. 

To resolve the issue please do the following:

On the Create backup plan screen, tick off Advanced view. Click Change next to Access credentials underWhere to back up:

Provide username and password for the Linux NAS:

    The backup to NAS may fail with an error message similar to the following one:

    The selected vault is not available at the moment. Please select a different vault

    If you have your NAS joined to a domain or workgroup, avoid using the top level domain extension .local; e.g. If your NAS is set to be joined to mydomain.local, then connect to your NAS and change it to Mydomain.

    After changing the NAS setting, please refresh your DNS cache: 

    Start-Run -> type in "cmd and press Enter;
    In the command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns 

    Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawless for you. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

I also have the same problem, but it happens only when i create a scheduled task for servers. Workstations are working.
For Info: I test the Acronis Backup Package for use in future, right now we use the Backup Exec System Recovery from Symantec.
I only have testkeys and they are working for 10 more days.

I have a problem that seams to be like this! But the workaround dosen't work for me.

I installed Acronis on 8 Server. Personal Depot is a iSCSI connectet Partition on a Server.
From this 8 Acronis installations are 5 working fine. But 3 of them don't want the Backup Plan.

This error appears everytime I creat a Backup Plan:

How can it be; 5 Server work and 3 don't.

kurt neuenschwander, thank you for the log specified. Unfortunately it can still point onto several reasons, so let's check each of them in order to localize the issue.

First of all please make sure that you specify the credentials either of domain Administrator or of the User with full control access to that particular folder. If possible, please set full control for everyone and test whether you can perform the backup once again. Also please check this article for more details and instructions.

Should the issue persist, we will need to take a closer look at the system and product state. Could you please kindly gather the following? 

  1. Where exactly the folder you are storing backups to is located? 
  2. Acronis Info

After that please register your license to your account here and submit a support request with the information attached. I would also appreciate if you could let me know th case number so that I could make sure it is handled in a proper way.

I had contact whit your support. And they helped me.
My problem is solved. I did a repairinstallation of the Acronis Agent on the server who didn't work. Now its all fine.

Finally i have listened all the Chats and all the Forum entrees
No solution for the problem all of you have mentioned above, seems to be a problem of ACRONIS !!!
I should change to another Vendor if this would go on like this ....

On the other Hand i, am a moderator of a Knowledge Base, my users should know how ACRONIS realy works ...

Dear Andreas, I completely understand your frustration, and I'd be glad to provide you with the solution. Unfortunately since this is not a common case, and it can be caused by different reasons, each situation should be investigated and solved separately. There's no common solution for it.

I've managed to find your case, and can see that backing up a smaller amount of files to an alternative solution worked well, thus the problem is related to the accessing the NAS drive.

From the chat log I can see that you're using the mapped drive instead of the UNC path. This can be the cause of the problem. When you map a drive, it becomes mapped only under your Windows account. The Acronis product runs its tasks using the system account and so it is sometimes impossible to locate your mapped drive (especially when you are logged off). 

In order to fix the problem, please use UNC path (preferably: \[ip_address]\[folder_name]). If it's necessary to have the drive mapped, and save the image to the mapped drive, you can use a pre backup command to mount the mapped drive for an Acronis scheduled task:

  1. Download map.drive.txt;
  2. Follow instructions in Using Batch Files in Acronis True Image.
