Hello mm I!

Thank you for finding time to open the thread regarding this question.

Actually there is nothing to worry about, but I would like to notify you that Acronis Backup and Recovery was designed to backup the operating system, so there is no way to backup the database separately with the help of it.

Should it be ok for you, than there is nothing to worry about, just please keep in mind that this will be a full backup of the database and no brick-level is available. You will need to freeze its services as well, but only for 2-3 seconds (on the moment of snapshot creation). You can do it here:

Set options manually -> Pre/post commands

Please enavle VSS there and feel free to start the backup!

I would also advise you to take a look at the chapter 3.3.1.4 in the User's Guide for more details.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Are you stating that Acronis 10 Backup and Recovery will completely backup a drive even if it has SQL databases? I see a lot of conflicting info about this matter. My question is I have SQL Server 2005 on Windows Server 2008 and will Acronis 10 Backup and Recovery perform a valid scheduled backup of SQL or do I need a separate product? Do I need the Acronis SQL backup product to get a valid and recoverable backup? Thanks
