Catalog files needs a lot of space at a Windows 2003 Server

Thread needs solution

Hi,

Backup & Recovery 11 create on a Windows Server 2003 in the following dir for each Full-Backup a own subdir with a "index" dir and some files. It´s not the target dir for the backup.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\Catalog\C42F2129-FE3F-B15D-4B9E-15E200828054

The problem is, that each dir is more then 130 MB big. Meanwhile the Catalog-Dir is more than 27 GB big.

1. Can I delete this dirs manually without problems?
2. Why Backup & Recovery create this dirs?
3. Can delete Backup & Recovery this files automatically?

Many thanks.

Best regards,

Steffen

You can delete it or move to some other local folder as described in http://kb.acronis.com/content/26428 . Quoting this article,
> Managed Machine Service Catalog (Acronis Agent) - caches catalog from personal vaults on network shares and from locally attached tapes.
Removing this folder only affects ability to restore data using catalog ('data view'). To reduce its size, you may switch cataloging mode in backup plan options (or default backup options) to 'reduced' (or 'off') - see http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11/index.html#13722.html for details.
