Cleanup failed to replace the volume

Thread needs solution

I have backup and recovery 10 installed on 7 servers. Backups are going just fine to a central storage server via FTP. Each server has its own FTP credentials and backs up to its own partition on the storage server.

When the system got to the point where it needed to do its first cleanup, it failed. The error produced was that "Cleanup had failed to replace the volume". When I look in the vault my original archive is empty and a new archive has been created with all my consolidated backp in there. And now all backups are failing, the error produced is that "Incremental backup canot find the archive specified"

I made sure there is plenty of free space on the partitions(80 GB free on the largest) and Ive logged into the cental server via FTP using the backed up servers credentials to ensure i could create, modify, and delete files at will.

Anyone have any ideas? Im sure if I can fix the cleanup issue the new backup issue will not reappear.

Had the issue again last night, I made sure that each back up partition was 6 times bigger than the original full back up and no help. This is what the software is showing me:

Hello Ed,

Please accept our apologies for the difficulties you've experienced with Acronis Backup&Recovery 10.

I'll surely help you and resolve the issue, but first I need some additional information from your side.

Could you please gather AcronisInfo output (see this KB article for the detailed instructions) from the machine where you have Management Server installed and from any machine with Agent installed and send me a Private Message with that information? Please use different name for each archive, so I'll be ably to identify them correctly.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Hello Ed Markle,

Thank you for your post. I am sorry for the delay. I have checked our database and found that you have an open case with our Expert team.

We are currently working on this issue and doing our best to resolve it as soon as possible.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

It's great that you are working on it for a year... It's even better when the solution is posted.

what is the solution so I can correct the same issue ?

After a lot of back and forth with support. Collecting and sending logs I activily sat and watched a backup/cleanup cycle one evening. Turns out the McAfee Enterprise AV installed on the machines being backed up was interfering with the cleanup via FTP. For those backup being backed up to a network share, the AV at the storage end was interfering with the clean up.

Ive changed the AV solution on all servers(against company policy), both storage and client and now everything is working as intended.

With the additonal problems McAfee has caused me recently by delteing core OS files, Im going to hold my breath until the CIO gives up his demand that we use this......................product.

Thank you very much for your response. I have Symmantec Enterprise, I will look over the Symantec options and see what I can adjust as well.

Did Acronis ever get back with a solution?

I let them know what I had figured out. They indicated that they would further investigate the releationship with the AV and creat a KB article of there findings.
