Correct product for what I have planned?
Hi All
I have 15 desktop PC's and a .tib file which I have been sent and told to image them with. I do not have the Acronis software and am hoping to buy Backu and Recovery 10 but I am not sure if it will do what I want.
I downloaded the trial version to test it, created a bootable UDB flash drive with it and booted off it but when I fgo to test if it will write the image I am getting licensing errors. I presume this is because I am on the trial version and not some other issue?
My question is, if I buy the Backup and Recovery 10 Workstation will I be able to create the bootable USB and restore the image I have to the various machines by booting it or should I perhaps be buying True Image 2009 home version?
Thanks a lot in Advance of yor helpful comments!!

Hi...
No the machines are identical hardware wise so there should be no problem that way.
Does that mean that the error I am getting when trying this using the boot usb key I generated is only appearing because it is not licensed?

Which version of the B&R 10 are you using? Is it the Standard version or the Advanced version?

It's the standard version which I have downloaded the trial of. Do I need to use the Advanced version for what I want?

The Standard version will only work on "Local" machines, which sounds like what you're doing. Unless Acronis has changed somthing with the B&R trial version, I would think it should be able to restore an image.
Was the image file you have created with B&R 10, Echo or one of the TI Home versions?
It might also be helpful if you posted the exact error message(s) you're getting.

Thanks for your help so far MudCrab
From what I can tell , the .tib image was created using True Image Echo Enterprise Server, this is from an image file I can open in the folder the .tib file was sent to me in!!
When I boot off the usb key and select "What to recover", I point it to the .tib file and when I click OK the file is selected but underneath it in read is the message
"Failed to check license key. The key is disabled"
and the "Where to recover" tab then does not offer any options.

Do you have an Echo CD you could try?
Do you get the same error if you boot to a B&R CD instead of the flashdrive?
Do you get the same error if you try to validate the image?

Hi MudCrab
I created a B+R CD from the trial version and went to try and restore the .tib file and even though I didnt actually do it it worked fine. Perhaps this is an issue with the way I have created the USB drive? See below for how I created the bootable USB
I followd the instructions on the link below

Hi
I found a link on another thread to MudCrabs guide how to create a bootable USB using Grub4Dos and the Acronis iso and it has worked a treat, no more problems.
On another note I also mailed Acronis support on this issue and they said I would have to buy Backup and Recovery Advanced Server to get this to work...

Hello Dar Din,
Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]
I looked through the case you have mentioned. Actually, the issue has been diagnosed incorrectly. Please see this article about backup archive compatibility across different product versions.
You can use Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation to deal with the archives created with Acronis True Image Echo Enterprice server.
Thank you.
