Error 1067, Acronis Managed Machine Service

Thread needs solution

Windows 7, 64-bit, Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Workstation

We've been using Acronis on this machine for about 5 years. A few days ago, the machine service stopped working. As such, we cannot connect and make backups, etc.

The Acronis client provides this error:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cannot connect to 'localhost'.

When I try to manually start the service, I receive the following:

Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.

I used the Acronis 11 installer to "modify" the files, hoping it would refresh the files, but that made no change.

We recenlty installed a new data drive on this machine, which required updating the SATA drivers. Their software also added some Samsung drivers.

Any advice?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

James

Hello biolab,

The message "The system cannot find the file specified" often means that the service executable (mms.exe) cannot be accessed - e.g. it has been deleted, moved, the disk with it has been taken offline etc. To check that, please navigate to the list of services (Start -> Run - > Services). Right-click on the Acronis Managed Machine Service, click Properties and then the General tab. Check the path to the executable. Make sure the mms.exe file is in the location specified. If it is not, please put it there. However the repair installation normally helps to resolve this issue. Are you using the latest build? I would recommend to download the latest available build 17440. As the next step I would make sure, that the account for Acronis managed Machine service is granted with all necessary privileges. Here you can find instructions on how to add rights to the account.

Thank you,
