Guide need to use Universal Restore and VMware - please help

Thread needs solution

Hi, from reading it appears that you should be able to use Universal Restore to restore a server image to a VMware server on dissimilar hardware. I have searched for a step by step guide but to with success. If this is possible, could someone point me in the right direction.

Many thanks

Hi,
Same problem here... Can't find a step by step guide... I've only found that :
http://kb.acronis.com/content/1786

But it's related to Acronis True Image, not Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 :(

Any help will be really appreciated !!

Thanks !!

Hi,
Have seen the same knowledge base document - not much help though.

Hopefully someone must have some information on how to do this.

Phil

Problem solved:

1. Download VMware Converter Standalone - http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/
2. Install on the server you wish to virtualise.
3. Run app and Create vitual image of that server.
4. Copy image file to your VMware server's Virtual Machines folder.
5. Add Virtual Machine to Inventory.
6. Once running install VMware Tools, from the VMware console, the new Virtual Machine.

Our BES server is now running as a virtual server in our test enviroment. :)

Worked for me and no need for Universal Restore.
