How to Backup server and restore to different hardware
I have a Windows Server 2003 machine that is lacking in hardware capability. I want to backup this machine completely and then use the Universal restore option to restore the backed up image to an IBM X-Series 345 server we have sitting idle. I can perform the backup without issue but how do I restore the backed up image to the new hardware? When I try to create restore media it asks for WAIK to be installed which I can download and install on the backup machine. But then I get fuzzy on what I have to include on the restore media. I read through the restore help files but I am a bit confused as to what I have to do? The new server has ServeRaid SCSI hard drives so I assume that these drives need some type of drivers as the old server does not have SCSI hard drives that are in a raid configuration. Is there a step by step i can follow to get comfortable with this? I really need to get this working this week. We have purchased licenses for Acronis Server Backup and Universal Restore. Thanks for the assistance.

UDaMan,
Definitely living up to your screen name for sure thank you so much for straightening me out on the restore procedure. I was thinking the Linux option was for strictly Linux based restores now I know different. As far as drivers what exactly do i need to get the server just booting up? It is an IBM X-Series 345 server (the one I am restoring to) it has SCSI Raid arrays and i guess i would also need the video drivers as well which are easy just a little fuzzy on the hard drive drivers due to the SCSI Raid configuration. Thanks again for your help very much appreciated and hopefully I can pay it forward in the future.

You will need to have the SCSI RAID drivers, the chipset, network drivers, +- video as you can install them when the system boots it will boot low resolution if no drivers are found. You could then install them after the system boots up.
Be sure to have the proper drivers for hardware for the OS you are using.
Hope your restore goes as easily as mine did to my new 2003 Server.
