How to make Acronis behave like MOZY
Hey folks.
I hope I can get some insight here..
I am trying to use acronis like I use Mozy. What I mean is that I want to back up my desktop in example and I would like the incremental updates to mirror what I add or delete from my desktop every time it does an update. For example, If I delete a document from my desktop that was previously backed up, I want Acronis to delete it from the backup as well. If I move one file to a different folder I want acronis to move the file there as well.. INSTEAD every time I delete a file and acronis does an update, then it pops up a message saying that it could not back up that file. Also, I want to have every backup add info to the .tib that was already created, not to create another .tib file. Is this possible.. ?
I appreciate any input!
thanks

What version of TrueImage are you using? and what is the OS?
First, I would suggest you read item 7H inside my signature index.
TrueImage is not a file by file backup program. Rather, it works by reading the used sectors on your hard drive.
It will not add content to a prior file but there is a consolidation option which most of the regular forum members do not feel a need.
It also sounds like you are using the Files or Data type backup which is why you are getting the errors. TrueImage excels at being a Backup & Recovery program which can recover your system in the event of a disk failure or virus, etc. For that type recovery, you should have a disk option backup which includes all partitions--both hidden and diagnostic. I personally never use TI to backup only my files but use always to backup my entire system via full disk backups with occasional differential or incremental backups.
If you do not like the behavior of TrueImage files backup, Karen's Replicator is good at backing up files with lots of options about changes but you cannot beat TrueImage for a backup and recovery program.

thanks for your reply!
I just want to be able to forger about the backup program. I want that the files i work on to be backed up shortly after I edit them in case of a HDD failure. Online backups like mozy or carbonite do that.. but ... carbonite does not backup video files unless you tell it to (whoch sucks) and mozy..well mozy seems to be the solution, but I wanted to do the same with my extra hard drive.

I was using file and data backup on win 7 latest version of acronis home. Can I create an image that adds only the changes I make to the already backed up files? like Mozy or carbonite would do to the backup they store online?

Once you create your first full base image, you can configure your task schedule options for the followup images to be either incremental or differential type backups. Any additional backups will result in additional backup files. You can create desktop shortcut which can be used to invoke a backup anytime you wish via clicking on the shortcut.
My index has lots of helpful references to those who are new to Acronis TrueImage.

are you familiar with carbon copy cloner for the mac? it creates the image and then adds to it any changes.. it does not create new backup files.. is there like a windows version of that software?
