No Fixed Disk Showing When Choosing A Simple Backup

Thread needs solution

I have tried all the following to create a backup and cannot see the fixed hard drive no matter what I try. I have windows 7 professional installed one the first laptop to image.

Items tried
1) Downloaded and installed the latest version of acronis 10 worstation and created a bootable disk
2) Downloaded the latest acronis 10 bootable media directly from website
3) Run a chkdsk

I need to run this from a boot disk has I have 7 more exactly the same to image.

I have used acronis from from the original 10 to 11 workstation to echo workstation but I cannot get the fixed drive to show which ever boot disk I use.

The laptops are brand new fujitsu esprimo mobiles and have a simple basic disk that is NTFS

Any solutions would be grateful

Hi Russell. You are trying to back up using the Acronis Bootable Media correct? I have a feeling that AHCI might be coming in to play here. GO in to the setup of the notebook. Look for IDe parameters, controller parameters, something to that effect. See if you can find a setting where it is telling you that the SATA controller is set to what they call AHCI mode. If you find it set it to just plain IDE and try backing up.

One word of caution. Set it back to AHCI before you try rinning Windows again or it will crash... (no permantent damage though)

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried this and it does not work either. You usually only have to change this after imaging not before so this is a new one on me.

I could do with the old BartePE I recon but patched to the latest version of 10 with U/Restore but its a pain to create the disk.

Wish Acronis or anyone had a direct download for this to save everyone the hasstle

Hello all,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.
Russel,
We are unable to upload a BartPE file to our web site because you should use your licensed version  of operating system to create a BartPE disk.
Could you please obtain the below information and contact us via Live chat service? Please have these files at hand.

1) - Open Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Information;
- Choose the "Save" option in the "File" menu (or "Action" menu under Windows 2000), enter the "File name" and set the field "Save as type" to "System Information File (*.NFO)";
- Provide us with the saved file.
2) Please download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach the file to your next post. Please compress the Acronis Report output file into an archive (e.g. with WinZip) and attach to your message by browsing for the archive.

This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

3) Please obtain Linux sysinfo file from the CD created using the ISO file you have downloaded. This CD allows you to collect sysinfo output to USB flash. Boot the system under the CD disk and select the "0" (zero) parameter at the startup.
To get the access to Live chat service one should go to this page, under Contact us click on the Start here button, select Have questions. From the pop up select Technical issue with product. Select FULL Version selection \Select product from drop down box.  Choose Live chat.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.
Thank you.
